The End of the Lawnie Pass: What It Means & What Now.

For years, the Lawnie Pass has been a fan favorite, giving concertgoers affordable access to multiple shows at Ruoff Mortgage Music Center. So why did Live Nation decide to discontinue it? Let’s break it down.

Why Did Live Nation Get rid of the Lawnie Pass

1. The Economics of the Decision (In Layman’s Terms)

Live Nation operates Ruoff Mortgage Music Center like any other business—meaning they have to balance demand, costs, and revenue. Here are a few reasons why they likely made this decision:

  • More Demand for Individual Shows – With big artists coming through, there’s less incentive to offer a bulk pass when individual shows are selling out.

  • Artists & Venues Want a Bigger Cut – Ticket revenue is split between promoters, venues, and artists. With the Lawnie Pass, some artists may have been getting a smaller cut than they would with full-price ticket sales.

  • Operational Costs are Rising – Everything from security to staffing to venue upkeep costs more each year, meaning pricing models need to adapt.

2. How to Still Get the Best Deals on Concert Tickets

Just because the Lawnie Pass is gone doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to see live music. Here are some alternative strategies:

  • Join Pre-Sales & Fan Clubs – Many artists offer fan club memberships with early access to discounted tickets.

  • Look for Last-Minute Deals – Some resale platforms drop prices right before showtime.

  • Group Up & Buy Bulk Tickets – Some events offer discounts when purchasing multiple tickets at once.

  • Consider Weeknight Shows – Weekend concerts tend to be pricier; shows on Tuesdays or Wednesdays might have cheaper options.

3. What’s Next? Could a New Subscription Model Be Coming?

Live Nation is experimenting with different ways to offer fans more flexibility. Some venues in other markets are testing seasonal ticket subscriptions or other membership-based models. Could something similar come to Ruoff? Time will tell.

For now, while the Lawnie Pass will be missed, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy an incredible concert season—without blowing your budget. Check out all the free shows we have happening on our weekly calendar, and support great local bands and venues.
